Fun Friday Favorites: Broccoli Cauliflower Salad and a lot of boot fashion

By 0 No tags Permalink 0

This week, I have a variety of fun favorites to share with you.  A tasty salad recipe that my mother-in-law has shared with me.  (It happens to be Hubby’s FAVORITE salad EVER.)

And, if you know me well, then you know the fashion favorites listed this week aren’t a real big surprise.  Because if you know me, then you know how much I LOVE boots.  Rain boots, cowboy boots, fashion slouch boots, UGG boots, riding boots.  The list is endless.

And I now present you with (drum roll, please)……..my Fun Friday Favorites!

1.  Hubby’s favorite…Broccoli Cauliflower Salad –

This is one of Patrick’s favorite salads that his mom always made for him.  Carol shared the recipe with me and it is just so delicious.  I can honestly say that when I make it, it never quite tastes as good as hers.  She has it down to a perfect science.  But thank you, Carol, for sharing your recipe with me!  I think you’ll love it, too.

Broccoli Cauliflower Salad

2 broccoli – chopped and use only the florets

1 cauliflower – chopped

carrots (about 1/3 of a bag) – chopped

celery (3-4 stalks? I always forget to put this in mine) – chopped

onion (I used about 4 green onions.  White onion is fine, too.) – chopped

1 c. mayo

1 c. sour cream

1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix

Place the broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery, and onion in a large bowl.  In a separate bowl, mix the mayo, sour cream, and dressing packet together.  Add the mayo/sour cream mixture to the large bowl of vegetables.  Keep in fridge until serving.  (It’s best when it can set for at least two hours.)  This recipe makes a lot!

2.  Frye Melissa Button Boot –

Frye Melissa Button Boots

While I realize these boots are quite pricey (unless you are Donald Trump), they are so darling.  They’d look great with skinny jeans and a cute fall sweater.  Von Maur has them and you will probable fall in love with them if you try them on.

3.   Tawny Shearling Ankle Boots from Target –

Boots

Cute ankle boots!

These boots are much more affordable for all.  $34.99 and you should be able to buy them at your local Target.  And they come in two colors.

4.  Frye Veronica Slouch Boot –

Frye boots

What can I say?  I found another Frye boot that I fell in love with.  Why do we have to love such pricey things?  It’s a curse, I swear.  Just kidding.  But they are super cool and a more casual look.  Again, Von Maur is who you have to thank for showing me these boots.

5.  Mossimo Supply Co. Jessica Suede Strappy Boot –

Mossimo's

Love this color!

Okay, back to the real world.  And a better price range.  Target has these and I just love them!

6.  Frye Jackie Button Boot –

Oh, how I love these!

Oh, how I love these!

Okay, last Frye boot, I promise.  But these are a little dressier and I just love the cognac color.  I would have to wear these boots every day to make them worth the money, but I’d be willing to do that.  These boots are available at Nordstrom online.

7.  Lucky Brand Jaspah Open Toe Wedge Bootie –

Wedge boots...so "in" this fall.

Wedge bootie…so “in” this fall.

This bootie is amazing.  Throw on a casual dress with these or some leggings and a sweater…you’ll be so “in style”.  I do love wedge shoes…very comfortable.  These are found at Von Maur, as well.

8.  Sorel Slimpack Riding Boot –

These are the best.

These are the best.

Okay.  I have these.  I got them two years ago and I cannot tell you how much I’ve worn them.  They are seriously one of my favorite pair of boots.  Very casual and soooo comfortable.  I’ve worn them with my long sleeve t’s and a black puffy vest.  Or with a plaid shirt.  I even had an older (I mean OLDER) gentleman stop me at McDonald’s last year as Maxim and I were getting into the car to say that he liked my boots.  (I’m not sure that was a compliment or what….? Hmmm…)  I got mine at Von Maur a few years ago, but I have seen them at Scheel’s or you can purchase them at Nordstrom online.

Just remember…these boots are made for walkin’.  And like diamonds, boots are a girl’s best friend, too.

Have a wonderful weekend!
