Fun Friday Favorites: Fall fashion and yes…Kickapoo Krunch Bars. THE RECIPE!

Well, hello FRIDAY!! Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE Fridays??? I heart them.

It’s been a goofy week with the holiday on Monday and kids not having school on Tuesday. And I’m back to subbing at the boys’ schools. Not to mention practices, meetings, and a football scrimmage. Busy BUT. I couldn’t forget about all of your dear readers, so let’s get to Fun Friday Favorites!

  1. Heather Gray Dolman Sleeved Open Cardigan

The perfect pop of color!

The perfect pop of color!

This is a pre-order set from Betsy Boo’s Boutique…so order yours now. Again, just click on my link above and it’ll take you right there. We all know that plaid is a MUST for fall. And this red gingham is so adorbs. I really need this set!

3.  Mossimo Supply Co. Utility Shirt from Target –

Target, you did well.

The olive color is hot this fall.

I bought this shirt a few weeks ago. Olive and camo and all types of utility shirts are in this fall. I plan to wear this with some skinny jeans (I’m thinking I need a black pair). I might even leave the top open and throw a cute t-shirt underneath…wear it like a lightweight jacket. The options are endless with a shirt like this.

4.  Kickapoo Krunch Bars –

These bars are AMAZING.

These bars are AMAZING.

Okay. So my photography skills do not do these bars justice. But take it from me (have I ever lead you astray? I didn’t think so.)…Kickapoo Krunch Bars are simple AMAZING. Ask anyone who grew up going to North Mahaska Elementary School or at the high school. We had the best cooks and they always made homemade desserts for our school lunches. Yes. We were spoiled. Our poor kids today have no idea what homemade, good ol school lunches are all about (thank you to our government for dictating what needs to be fed to our school children). Okay. No more political rant. Back to happy things. Like Kickapoo Krunch Bars. 🙂

I was craving these delicious bars and sought out my BFF…Facebook (hahaha) and my people came to the rescue. My fellow friends and family from North Mahaska SHOWED UP. They helped me. And between Krista and my cousin Annie sharing this recipe and Pam, one of our former cooks, AND numerous other caring friends and family…they all helped out with the recipe. (Thank you everyone!!) I found the precious step by step way to make the most delicious and scrumptious bars (not to mention how easy they are!). Here is the recipe and a few more pics of me baking them yesterday…

Kickapoo Krunch Bars

1 cup margarine

1 3/4 cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup peanut butter

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

4 cups oatmeal

1/4 cup milk

1/2 tsp salt

2 1/2 tsp baking powder

Cream the margarine, sugars, and peanut butter together. Then, mix in the eggs and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients (I mixed these in a separate bowl). Then, add the milk. Mix well. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. * Use a jelly roll pan/large cookie sheet. Or two 9×13 pans.

Frosting

1/2 stick butter (softened)

4 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 cup milk

Beat together, then spread over top of bars.

ENJOY!!!!!

The bars made and ready to be put into the oven…

As shown above, I used a 9×13 glass pan because I cut the above recipe in half. Why? Because I knew I didn’t have the four cups of powdered sugar. I know. Not my best move to run low on powdered sugar when making delicious bars. So, we all know…a 9×13 pan of these bars will last approximately 2.5 hours at my house. #ingredientproblems

Well. This is probably the shortest blog post ever, but I wanted to get a few things out and most importantly…the Kickapoo Krunch Bar recipe. So happy shopping for fall and try these bars. You’ll LOVE them!!!!

Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend!! ~ XO Angela Banae

One can never have enough gray cardigans! I’m going to make the Kickapoo Krunch Bars today (love the cute name) for a tailgate tomorrow. You were lucky, our lunch ladies never made anything that good!
