Fun Friday Favorites: Fall is in the air…soaps, candles, lattes, and more

It actually feels like fall.  Cool weather, sweatshirts being worn, and pumpkin spice and everything nice everywhere you look.  I love it.

Last Saturday, the boys helped me take down the Easter decorations.  (Remember, I had my Easter Egg wreath still on our door?  And the tulips and bunnies were put away, also.  I have no excuse.)  Then, we decorated the house for fall.  Oh, how I love this season.  This week, my favorites are devoted to “fallish things”.

1.  Pumpkin Cupcake Deep Cleansing soap from Bath & Body Works –

The best fall soap EVER

The best fall soap EVER

After Nate’s football game last Saturday, the boys and I stopped by the mall to get our “Fall Supply” of Bath & Body Works soaps.  No need for you to leave your home…just click online and you can get their fall scents.  Pumpkin Cupcake is our absolute fav.  This fall, they’ve changed the formula in their soaps.  Usually, we get the foaming anti-bacterial soap, but they didn’t have Pumpkin Cupcake scent of the foaming soap in stock.  So, I bought the deep cleansing soap in Pumpkin Cupcake.  (Skeptical, but I figured it was worth a try.)  AND I LOVE IT.  It is so gentle on your hands.  I’ll be getting this kind from now on.  (Plus, the gal said they are not making the deep cleansing anti-bacterial soap because they found it was washing away the good bacteria off of hands, as well as the bad.  I have no idea if this is completely reliable, but that’s what she said.)

2.  Pumpkin Pecan Waffles three-wick candle –

I usually get my candles from my sister-in-law (Angie makes the BEST soy candles), but I was in Bath & Body Works and their smells tempted me.  So, I bought this one and I’m very happy with it.  Our whole kitchen smells wonderful…even our laundry room.  I love Scentsy, but there is something warm and cozy about having a candle lit, flickering in the room.

3.  Fall garland on my mantle –

There’s not much to the garland…just fall leaves.  But it makes a nice statement over our fireplace.  Hobby Lobby has some very reasonably priced garland.  Such an easy way to say “Fall is HERE!”

4.  Fall wreath –

Our fall wreath

Our fall wreath

I am not very crafty.  But last year, I saw wreaths on Pinterest and I wondered, “How hard is it to make a fall wreath?”  Answer:  Not hard at all.  I found a wreath at Hobby Lobby, a swag of flowers, and a cluster of berries.  A few snips with the needle nose pliers, some hot glue, and waaaalaaa.  I had a fall wreath.  Because I had already bought a fall wreath (already assembled and oh, so pretty) at Wal-Mart for our front door, I just HAD to find a place for this new wreath that I made.  So, it hangs on the inside of our door.  For us to enjoy. 🙂

5.  Toms Woven Ballet Flat –

Currently on sale at Nordstrom

The perfect shoe for fall

When this time of year hits, my toenails are starting to look a sad with what little polish is left on them.  And it is cool in the mornings on those bare toes…so they want to be covered up.  These flats are darling.  Love the colors in them.  They are a great transition shoe…for those mornings you don’t want to freeze in your flip flops, yet aren’t ready to pull out the boots.  And they are on sale right now at Nordstrom.  I see this as a win-win situation.

6.  Pumpkin Cheesecake Concrete Mixer from Culver’s –

Oh. my. goodness.

Oh. my. goodness.

You all.  Listen.  I cannot explain to you how deliciously sinful this shake/malt/whatever is.  This time of year, they begin to sell them and it’s a good thing.  Because if Pumpkin Cheesecake Concrete Mixers were available at Culver’s year round…I would be in TROUBLE.  Try one and let me know your thoughts.  You’ll probably be wishing you never tried them because you will want one at least once a week.  With an order of their french fries.

7.  Coffeesmiths Pumpkin Pie Skinny Latte with half the whipped cream –

My favorite place

My favorite place

So, I’m sad to hear about Starbuck’s and all of the bad things they put in their Pumpkin Spice Lattes (that I LOVED).  And they admitted yesterday that there isn’t even ANY pumpkin in their lattes.  (You don’t even want to know the story about the other day when I went  through their drive-thru because I had a weak moment and really wanted their PS latte and asked them personally about the toxins in this drink.)  ANYWAY.  Happier things…my FAVORITE things…Coffeesmiths.

Coffeesmiths is a locally owned coffee shop with a few locations in Cedar Rapids & Marion.  Well.  I just love their pumpkin pie latte.  I mean LOVE it.  Like no other.  (I drink the ‘skinny’ version where they use skim milk and I have them only use half of their homemade whipped cream because CALORIES people.)  The atmosphere is so nice and this is where I do a lot of my blogging and writing.  (It’s either that or in our big, comfy chair and ottoman in the corner of our living room.)  I love that Coffeesmiths is local, has delicious things to eat (hint:  the pumpkin muffin in the picture) though I don’t eat there often, and they have the best service.  Such friendly baristas.  May I also recommend their Caramel Apple Cider?  Oh, you’ll thank me.  It’s heavenly.

Happy Fall and have a wonderful weekend!
