Fun Friday Favorites: My Taco Soup recipe, pumpkin decor, and a little fashion

Well, it’s been a full week of the boys being back to school.  They are beginning to settle into a routine.  And I’m still trying to find one.

Anyway, I have some great things to share with you today, dear readers.  Because we all could use an easy peasy soup recipe.  And fall is knocking on our door so it’s time to start decorating.  And because fashion is always important, I found a few items that you may want to add to your shopping list.  Without further ado…I give you my Fun Friday Favorites.

1.  Taco Soup –

Taco Soup...so yummy and oh, so easy.

Taco Soup…so yummy and oh, so easy.

This is one of our family’s favorite suppers that I fix.  This soup is so easy and with the right toppings, even your kids will love it.

Taco Soup

2 cans of chicken broth

1 can of Rotel tomatoes

1 can of diced tomatoes

1 can of corn (drained)

1 can of pinto beans (drained)

1 can of black beans (drained)

1 lb. hamburger, browned

1 packet of taco seasoning

1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing

In a large pan, add all ingredients.  Cook over medium heat.  Bring soup to a boil/simmer for one minute.  Ladle into bowls, then add your topping…sour cream.  You may crunch up Tostito chips or use them as scoops, like we do.  Super easy and this makes a lot!

2.  Pumpkin door decoration –

So fall and festive.

So fall and festive.

Here it is online:

I saw this door hanger and thought it would be perfect for fall.  Something this versatile is so nice because it can be left on your door from September, through Halloween, and on into the month of November when we celebrate Thanksgiving.  Considering I still have up my Easter egg wreath on our front door (I am not kidding) (see photo below), this would be nice for people like me who get sidetracked and forget to take down decorations.  Or just plain don’t want to take them down.  (In all honesty, I didn’t have a summer wreath/door decor so the Easter egg wreath has stayed up.)  You can purchase this online at Von Maur or go to the store where I saw it – it’s $54.

This is legit. Still up on our door and it's August 29th.

3. Double Zero top –

I bought this top back in late spring in royal blue/white and received so many compliments on it.  It’s back at Von Maur in the following colors:  black, navy, tan, pink, and red.  You will definitely want to wear a white tank of some sort under it.  It’s $34 and would look great with some skinny jeans and boots for fall.

Here is the one I bought:

4.  Lush top –

This is one of my favorite blouses for fall and it’s $40 at Von Maur.  Throw some long necklaces on to add some sparkle and you’ll be stylin’.

5.  Old Navy’s Dolman Sleeve top –

How cute is this outfit??!

How cute is this outfit??!

I saw this and it screamed, “BUY ME”.  I already have a pair of skinny jeans, a black tank for underneath (layering folks.  It’s what the cool kids are doing.), and a gray cardigan to wrap around my waist, so I just purchased the tee.  Because you know me and white tee shirts…love them.

Here it is online in the cream color, as well.

And it's on sale!

6.  One of my absolute favorites…our fourth grader!

7.  Another one of my absolute favorites…our kindergartener!

Maxim is ready for school!

(Just in case you were wondering…they didn’t wear the same shirt on the same day.  Nate’s first day of school was last Wednesday.  Maxim’s first day of school was last Thursday since his last name is in the last half of the alphabet N-Z.)  (I know not to do that to our fourth grader.  Especially because fourth graders are the big dogs on campus.  Though Maxim would love to be dressed just like big brother.)

Have a wonderful weekend!
