Fun Friday Favorites: Puppy Chow (THE recipe) and gold jewelry…it’s the “IN” thing

You know what’s more fun than getting dental work done? About anything. You see, I had some dental work done yesterday and I feel that I’m reaching some mid-age crisis as I am in need of a crown. And not the pretty, sparkly kind that I would enjoy wearing upon my head. NO. The tooth kind of crown. (waaaah waaaah)

Thankfully, we have an amazing dentist friend who has been a family friend for a long time and he was very careful with my fragileness (I just made that word up). You see, when I was young, we went to a dentist and one time, he drilled into my tooth to fix a cavity I had gotten AND I FELT EVERY SINGLE THING. I was in junior high or something like that, but OH. I remember it like it was yesterday. And that dentist even numbed me up (aka inserted shots of novocanie into my gums) 5 or 6 times, no lie. Apparently, my dentist of junior high and high school years wasn’t able to accurately hit the correct nerve to numb my gums. #scarredforlife  And so, he held me down and continued to drill as tears streamed down my face.

Fast forward a few years to yesterday. My dentist numbed my gums and it worked beautifully. I felt NOTHING. Praise the Lord and can I holla an AMEN?!! I had three teeth worked on: a filling/cavity had to be redone, a tooth fixed to hid an exposed root, and a temporary crown put on. #goodtimes

Okay, in other news, it’s time for Fun Friday Favorites.

  1. SweeTarts Heart Gummies –

#sogood

How ironic that I talk about fillings and such and then I go and throw up some candy on today’s Fun Friday Favorites. Listen. You can take the girl out of the candy shop, but you can’t take the love for candy out of the girl. Or something like that. I LOVE these gummi hearts. They are the perfect mix of sweet and a little sour.

2. A delicious treat…Puppy Chow –

I posted this picture the other night on Facebook. You guys. Seriously. I DO have the best recipe for Puppy Chow. That recipe on the back of the Chex box doesn’t even come close to this amazing recipe. The key is the powdered sugar and peanut butter. This recipe piles it on. You’ll understand once you make this delicious treat.

I had a friend ask about the oleo. This is what I used…

3.  Kate Spade studs from Von Maur –

Such a pretty gold!

Such a pretty gold!

I am loving gold jewelry now. For the longest time, I only wore silver (except for my wedding ring…it’s gold). PSA (public service announcement): GOLD IS BACK. And I am loving it. I picked these earrings up at Von Maur and I love them. Don’t laugh at the pic…

Here are a few other options Von Maur has…

4.  Love Big necklace from Jodi K’s Boutique –

I love this necklace

I love this necklace

For Christmas, I got this stamped necklace from Hubby and the boys. (psssst…Jodi K’s Boutique in Cedar Rapids is where you can get this darling necklace!! Go check her store out!) I love the gold (obviously) and especially the phrase: LOVE BIG. Those two words are my words for 2016. I want to Love God BIG. Love my hubby BIG. Love our boys BIG. Love my family and friends BIG. Love this blessed life BIG.

5.  Gold leaf necklace from Jodi K’s Boutique –

Again, check out Jodi K's to see this necklace in gold or silver.

Again, check out Jodi K’s to see this necklace in gold or silver.

Jodi K’s Boutique is where you can purchase this. Listen friends. This necklace is flying out of her store…EVERYONE is loving it! I bought the silver leaf last spring and LOVED it. And since I’m loving the gold look, I just HAD to get the gold leaf. Give Jodi K’s a call and have her order you one: 319-365-2711. Tell her Angela Banae sent you! 🙂

6. Nate and I –

Love this Steeler fan :)

Love this Steeler fan 🙂

Last Sunday night, we watched our beloved Steelers lose to the Broncos. 🙁 Clearly, this picture was taken BEFORE the game. Though we were sad at the outcome, I LOVED watching the game with fellow Steelers fans…Nate and Hubby (though Hubby paced the living room floor the ENTIRE game). Maxim is a wild card. He doesn’t care for the Steelers (I have no idea what we did wrong in raising him??), but is a devout Patriots fan or a Bears fan. Or Ravens. Or Packers. Basically, most teams except for the Steelers. Anyway. We love our Steelers and cheering them on with this sweet boy was one of my favorites from the week.

7.  Maxim and his cuteness –

So, our sweet first grader hurt his foot the other day. And I posted this on Facebook. Maxim cracks me up! His cuteness is just. too. much. He basically was doing high knees all the way down to the bus stop to try and “limp”. BTW, his foot is better and he was able to participate just fine last night at basketball practice. 😉

Well, it’s been a productive Fun Friday Favorites post…you’ve got a recipe to whip up. And some gold accessories to consider purchasing. And hopefully you enjoyed a few of my favorite moments with our boys. Have a great weekend!!!  ~ xo Angela Banae
