Fun Friday Favorites: The last day of school, Bug Soother, and flip flops

Well, I can’t believe that today is Nate’s last day of 3rd grade.  The months just flew by!  I know that I’m going to blink and then, he’ll be asking me for the keys.  But I’m not going to go there…I’m going to enjoy this stage of life…right where we are at.  I must say, that having another successful year of school for our boys is at the top of my favorites list for today.

1.  Last day of school pics…I love seeing how they are just beaming!  Once again, Nate and Maxim have been blessed with phenomenal teachers.  You always want a teacher who will love your child, make learning fun, and go above and beyond.  And, Ms. Greazel did just that.  Maxim’s preschool teachers (Mrs. Hoffman, Mrs. Gott, and Mrs. Uthe) were just as awesome.  Blessed and so thankful for amazing teachers.  Here is a picture from this morning…

2.  The Hero Wax Museum…In 3rd grade, the students pick a hero and research that person.  Then, they write a speech about their hero, memorize the speech, and make a fun poster board drawing of their hero.  Nate researched James Madison.  He did so great on his speech and we were super proud of him!  All I have to say is…will the REAL James Madison stand up?  Here he is…

I only wish I could be tech smart.  I wanted to upload the little 20 second video that I have of this…maybe I can get it uploaded another time.

3.  And, now…for the impersonator.  Because little brothers soak up EVERYTHING.  When we went to Nate’s Hero Wax Museum at school, Maxim was absorbing all of the information about these heroes the third graders had researched.  And, after hearing oh…seventeen or more kids recite their hero speech…it got Maxim thinking, “I can do this.”  So, here you have the impersonator of James Madison… (BTW, his video was hilarious because it made so much sense.  Except for NOT.  Again, I’ll work on trying to upload the videos…)

4.  And now for some fashion…I LOVE these flip flops.  I bought mine at Von Maur, but I’m sure you can get online and purchase them from numerous sites.  Havaianas is the brand and I just love the little diamond on the top of each flip flop band.  They go great with everything…capris, shorts, maxi skirts…you get the idea.

5.  Von Maur has this tank top and it is super cute.  Love the grey and I’d throw a white tank underneath.  It is kind of flowy and just an all around classic summer look.  (If you like a tank top, that is.)  And a nice price, if I say so myself.

6.  Not to be discriminating…here is a great top that I got Hubby.  He likes how they fit and they aren’t too dressy or too casual.  Kind of like in the Three Little Bears…this shirt is ‘just right’.  And it’s not a bad price, either.

7.  Bug Soother…

THE BEST STUFF!

THE BEST STUFF!

If you saw my Facebook post earlier in the week, you are aware of my swollen eye due to mean, vicious gnats that attacked me while Maxim and I were at the park having a playdate with friends.  Listen.  These gnats mean business and they will GET. YOU.  So, don’t go outside unprepared.  This Bug Soother is just the trick.  It’s DEET free, smells great, and is made right here in Iowa.  And. It. Works.  After many friends recommended it, Maxim and I went on a hunt.  And Hy-Vee Drug Town finally got a big shipment in Wednesday night.  So, Maxim and I went there the next day.  And we purchased nine bottles.  NINE.  I may go a little overboard on things.  (Usually this is Hubby who does this.  He’ll go to the store to pick up a few things for supper and come back with five sacks.  Four packages of tortilla shells, seven cans of beans, and three bottles of hot sauce.  We’d be prepared to serve 283 people tortillas with the amount of shells and beans he buys.)  (I can’t blame him.  Who wants to run out of something?)  Anyway, I bought nine bottles.  But they aren’t all for me.  I plan on selling them to friends and family for triple the price.  Just kidding.  But I think you all need to get some of this bug spray because no one needs to go around with a swollen eye like I had to do.

And that’s all for Fun Friday Favorites!  Have a wonderful weekend!!!  And if anyone is looking for the real James Madison…don’t be fooled by little five year old impersonators.
