Fun Friday Favorites: Work-out fashion, spring jackets, & frosted sugar cookies

In case you haven’t noticed…I’m trying to step up my game a little.  Blogging four times in one week…whew.  AND.  I’ve been doing it with the biggest head cold complete with a stuffy nose, congestion and sneezing, and feeling like five hundred pounds of bricks are laying on my chest.  Yes.  I’m doing pleasantly well around here.  NOT.  I’m hoping that by me eating my fair share of Cheeseburger Soup, this cold will go away soon.  If you didn’t check out yesterday’s blog post, you must because I shared the recipe.  (Delicious Cheeseburger Soup)  That soup has been perfect for the cold and chilly nights we’ve been having.  But enough whining about the common cold that not only myself, but everyone and their dog is dealing with right now.  On to more springy things.  Like work out clothes and spring jackets and a delicious frosted sugar cookie recipe!

It’s time for some Fun Friday Favorites!

1.  Michele Dolman top by Soybu –

Love this top!

Love this top!

My friend, Cassie, told me about Soybu yoga clothing so I went to Scheel’s and checked out the clothing for myself.  I saw this top there and loved it.  It has a subtle design in the fabric and looks great with a tank underneath.  Scheel’s has them, but they were not available on their website (hence, this other website I took the picture from).  I’ll tell you that this top is so comfy that you’ll want to wear it everyday with comfy yoga pants.  Throw a necklace on, some big earrings, and a few bracelets and you’ve got a win-win (you look a little dressed up and not like you’re in comfy gym clothes YET you ARE in comfy gym clothes).

2.  Under Armour Fly-By stretch tank –

A great, flawy tank to work out in.

A great, flowy tank to work out in!

I saw this tank at Scheel’s and the gray one screamed “Buy me!  Buy me!”  Shocking that I’d pick gray, huh?  I plan to wear this layered with a white tank underneath.  Can you guess who is wanting to get fit for spring??  🙂

3.  Nike vintage crew –

How cute is this?

How cute is this?

While on the Scheel’s website, I saw this online.  And it’s a good thing.  If I would have seen it in the store, I wouldn’t have been able to control myself.  It would have been purchased IMMEDIATELY.

4.  The North Face Osito 2 Fleece jacket –

Such a pretty color for spring!

Such a pretty color for spring!

I’m torn by this one.  I have a few of the Osito jackets by The North Face.  I don’t wear them often, but every time I see new colors on the display table at Scheel’s I am tempted.  As a matter of fact, I was so tempted that I even tried this one on…

I absolutely LOVE this color!

Well, hello stripes.  I saw this coat and immediately had to try it on.  I love how nautical it looks.  Scheel’s just started carrying the Helly Hansen brand based out of Norway.  They didn’t have it on their website yet, so I found it on another site.  But.  Go to Scheel’s and check out these raincoats.  The trench coat style w/ the belt makes it so trendy and yet, such a classic look.  I’m in love with this coat.  Period.

6.  Brave Nate –

Our brave little guy!

Our brave little guy!

One of my favorites this week has been seeing how brave Nate was when he got his teeth pulled.  He was such a trooper.  I posted on Tuesday about our “Going to the dentist” ordeal.  (Just getting a few teeth pulled)  Thank you to all of you who called, texted, or just plain checked in on Nate and asked how he was doing.  He is doing much better, with only a little tenderness from getting those honkers  baby teeth with the most ginormous roots ever  baby teeth pulled.  And for the record…I’m thankful I didn’t go back into the room with him.  Nate shared with us how when Dr. Walker pulled out his left tooth, blood squirted out all over.  OH. DEAR.  (I have no idea how MUCH blood SQUIRTED out, but even a drop would have made me about die.) (Not because I’d see blood, but because I would have seen SQUIRTING BLOOD.)  So, I’m very thankful that he was so brave to have them pulled out without needing his wimpy mama to be there because I would have been of NO HELP.  Love our brave Nate!

7.  Leprechaun traps –

This week, Maxim began thinking about St. Patrick’s Day and that got him wondering about leprechauns and that got him thinking that he’d like to catch one and that got him thinking that he should set a trap and…Yes. You get the idea.

He came to me the other night with a ripped piece of paper and pencil and asked me to write “Please write to me.” And then, he wanted me to draw a shamrock. I did this, not knowing what he was doing. Then, I found this set-up on our living room floor before he went to bed…

Maxim’s leprechaun trap 🙂

He was trapping leprechauns & being so kind to offer them his little toy snowmobile to ride 🙂

On days when I feel that our baby is getting so big and “I just can’t believe he’s in kindergarten” (insert me sobbing here), I just treasure these little moments where I see him doing things like this.  It makes my heart melt…love that little guy!

8.  Making THE BEST EVER frosted sugar cookies –

Though I have felt under the weather this week, it didn’t stop me from craving frosted sugar cookies.  Wednesday the boys’ school let out early due to the snowstorm coming and what better way to celebrate a snowstorm than to make frosted sugar cookies!

You all.  I know sometimes I have the tendency to brag about this recipe or that.  (In all fairness, I only share recipes that I believe you and I CANNOT live without.  That’s what friends do…we share things 🙂 ) But I kid you not.  I have the BEST EVER sugar cookie recipe that was given to me by a dear friend who went to the church we grew up in.  AND.  She gave me the frosting recipe to go with it.  Ruby’s Santa Claus cookies were the BEST.  And I’ve shared these two recipes with you before, but I feel it crucial to remind you of them again.  Frosted Sugar Cookie recipe and Best Frosting EVER recipe

So, hopefully today’s blog post gave you lots of great ideas!!  First, you can go and purchase some awesome work-out clothes.  Or perhaps a darling spring jacket.  Then, go home and make some yummy frosted sugar cookies.  That’s what I would do.  (Or, to be more specific…what I HAVE done.  I can’t help it…delicious sugar cookies are my weakness.)  Have a wonderful weekend!
