Life with Daisy

Well, it’s official. I’m a dog lover.

I know. I know. My friends out there who have loved dogs for years are reading this right now in disbelief. YES. Complete utter shock. I was the friend who used to hate having dogs lick me, paw up on me, or try to ‘get too close’. But things change, friends.

It took approximately three hours of being around our little six pound beagle puppy with silky, long flowing ears and big brown eyes and BOOM. I was smitten. To be honest with you, everyone in our family is head over heels in love with our sweet little canine.

It was love at first sight :)

We took the three and a half hour road trip (one way) to southwestern Iowa to pick up our sweet Daisy. After visiting with Toni for a few hours (I might have asked a million doggie questions), I felt confident in my dog rearing skills. “We’ve got this,” I told myself. (Should I mention that on the drive out to get Daisy, I had a little anxiety about this whole dog thing?) Well. Within minutes of watching Daisy AND seeing our boys so happy, I knew I was ready for this adventure.

On the three and a half hour drive back to home sweet home, we made a stop for a potty break (and because my mom and Papa were at the Kellogg exit enjoying some hamburgers before heading to my niece’s softball game…so, they just HAD to meet their new grand-doggie). 🙂

Daisy was an amazing road trip companion. She curled up on the boys’ laps, just snuggling and snoozing.

Hubby Facetimed the boys and saw her sitting so nicely in their laps. He couldn’t wait for us to get home!

Once home, we hung out in the front yard, getting our hearts full of sweet puppy love.

Neighbors stopped by to welcome Daisy and when they left, the boys felt it necessary to take Daisy on her first walk. Because Daisy…errrr THE BOYS needed to try out her leash. (Currently, we have a 50/50 partnership. Both want to do EXACTLY the same thing, so we split the responsibilities because WE ARE FAIR.) #howlongwillthislast?

Maxim walked Daisy down to the stop sign. Nate walked Daisy back from the stop sign.

After our first evening at home, we wrapped up the night by letting the boys camp out in the living room with Daisy. (I should mention that she got plenty of snuggle time with Hubby #heartbreaker) Without a doubt, Daisy is loved by all of us. I just can’t believe how much I have fallen for this sweet little puppy. Look at how sweet and tiny she is…

After goodnight hugs and kisses, I waited for all to go to sleep. And within minutes, three cuties were off in dreamland.

I was nervous she’d have to get up in the night, but Daisy slept like a champ. After Hubby left for work, Daisy began to stir. It was 5:30 and the sun was up. I’d say she had a great night! #winforallofus

So, I let the boys sleep and took Daisy out to go to the bathroom. And morning was dog-gone perfect. Exploring was to be done and grass was to be nibbled on.

Seriously. Can she be ANY CUTER?

After bathroom break and playtime, it was breakfast time.

I feel like I should put a messy bun in her hair (tie up her ears)…those floppy ears are always in her food or water bowl 🙂  #longearprobs

I think I am in love! She is absolutely precious! If you ever need someone to dog sit and grandma Mel is busy, count me in! I can almost smell the puppy breath :0)
