Our neighborhood vacation…Lake of the Ozarks

I’d call this a weekend recap, but it’s not just about last weekend.  You see, this vacation started last Wednesday and went through Sunday.  And oh, it was so much fun.

Six families from our neighborhood went on a getaway to the Lake of the Ozarks.  Twelve adults, ten kids, and three boats made the journey down to southern Missouri to the Ozarks.  Fun in the sun was had by all twenty-two of us!  Yes.  In one big house.

Last Wednesday, after registering the boys for school, we were packed and ready to go.  Only 24 minutes past the departure goal of 12:00.  What can I say?  I’m always running late.

We packed the car and headed out! I might have overpacked...#packingproblems

We pulled into the Ozarks and unloaded at about 5:30 Wednesday evening.  We unpacked all of our food to share in the one big kitchen and trust me…we had plenty of food.  PLENTY.

Our kitchen was stocked with all manner of chips and snacks :)

After unpacking our vehicles, we got suits on and went down to the dock.  With the Lily Pad anchored to the dock, the kids jumped and splashed and had all kinds of good wet fun in the lake.

Thursday morning, I woke up needing coffee and Krispy Kremes.  You see, I know of NO place in Iowa that sells Krispy Kreme doughnuts anymore, but I KNEW they sold them down in the Ozarks.  I was so excited about getting doughnuts that I drove to Paul’s Supermarket and this is what I found…

Love. At. First. Sight.

Rows and rows of HEAVEN.  I loaded up my grocery cart, got coffee, and headed back to the house.

I bought a "few" donuts. Hahaha :)

After breakfast, we got into the pontoons and headed out for a drive.

On Friday morning, I was actually one of the first gals ready.  Remember…I usually am running late.  For EVERYTHING.  Mandi was shocked and felt the need to snap my pic so my blog readers could see that for once, I was on time.  🙂

Ready for the day :)

We went to Camden on the Lake to enjoy their swimming pools, hot tubs, and have lunch.  (I think I told you once already…no cooking for these mamas…it was vacation mode.)  🙂

The kids could not get enough of the water.  Swimming.  Fishing.  Boating.  Splashing.  We all had fun and loved the lake life.

And we brought games to play for times when we were in the house.  Liz brought this fun game that she bought on Amazon.  Oh. My. Word.  It was FUN!

A hilarious game for kids AND adults!

A hilarious game for kids AND adults!

The kids played their game first.  You spun the wheel to see what color of JellyBelly jellybean you got and then, you had to eat it.  The catch:  it might be Juice Pear or Booger.  Yes.  You either got a good tasting one or a NASTY tasting one.  This was a BIG hit.

Getting Bean Bazzled!

Liz passed out the jellybean and you didn’t know if you were getting Bean Boozled until you tasted it!

Skunk, Canned Dog Food, and Rotten Eggs were just a few of the nasty (and horrible smelling) jellybeans.  I recommend this game to anyone!  So much fun!!

Between playing in the water, playing jellybean games, and sitting back on the dock…lake life was fun for all.  Lake of the Ozarks is a fun and beautiful getaway.  Mary Beth took this picture of the sun setting…#perfection

This view…spectacular

Between the swimming and boating and laughing and hanging out…it was a great vacation all around with great friends.
