Isn’t that a catchy title? What do all three of those things have in common? Hold on, I’m about to tell you. Let me share what we’ve been up to for the past few weeks.
For starters, if this hasn’t been the longest hiatus EVER. Over the past few weeks, I was busy getting my proposal written and sent off to prospective publishers. You want to know what that is like? Writing a paper with approximately 534,798,326 pages. PLEASANT.
No, really, it wasn’t that bad. I went through and edited my memoir and tweaked some chapters and changed some words and edited some errors and said a lot of prayers and I’m continuing to say a lot of prayers and and and…WHEW. Finally, last Wednesday, I sent my proposal. So, while some ask for pleasant thoughts, I can’t afford that. Friends, I need prayers. Because that’s what works. Prayers. And so, I would LOVE your prayers as I wait for a great response from publishers and agents.
Now that you are caught up on the world of what it’s like being a writer (glamorous, of course), I will fill you in what we’ve been up to around our house. In CliffsNotes form. Because if I gave the Angela Banae version, you’d be reading a very long and windy, detailed version of my life lately. Which would probably bore you. Hahaha
We’ve had a few concerts. Nate had his first 5th grade band performance. It was such a great performance (except for the podium blocking our view of our favorite 5th grader) and Nate is enjoying playing the trombone. Confession. I’m sad to admit that I reverted back to my sixth and seventh grade days rather quickly while listening to the 5th graders perform. There were woodwind ‘squeaks’ and I had to hold myself together to keep from giggling out loud. Even Hubby gave me the side eye during the concert. (I couldn’t help it. Hey. I remember all too well playing my clarinet and accidentally squeaking LOUDLY during a performance, only to have my fellow clarinet friends and I try to stop shaking because we were giggling so much.) #truth
Nate ready for his band concert 🙂
Maxim had his 1st and 2nd grade Christmas program last week, also. I can’t tell you how amazing their music teacher is. She always has the students put on an awesome show! Maxim had an afternoon performance and an evening performance; of course, I went to both because CUTE! The “Toys” concert was the cutest thing! And our favorite 1st grader looked mighty handsome, too!
Maxim after his Christmas program:)
A sidenote: the boys wore a tie when Nate was five and Maxim was one for Easter and that was the last time. This year, they both wanted to wear ties for their concerts. Melt my heart. They loved dressing up. #sharpdressedmen
We have been busy with church festivities, as well. Last Wednesday night, we had a birthday pajama party for kindergarten through 5th grade students. Karrie and I are the lead teachers, with wonderful small group leaders who are the BEST. We grown-ups wanted to have a special night at church for the kids celebrating Jesus’ birth with a birthday cake and a pajama party. And what better way to enjoy hanging out in pajamas than to watch “Charlie Brown Christmas” with popcorn while in pajamas and hanging out with friends? We made crafts, read The Christmas Story from Luke 2:1-20, and read a book about the candy cane. We had so much fun! As the boys and I were driving to church for the fun night, I got a last minute idea and wanted each kid to have a candy cane (along with all of the other goodies they were getting)…to go along with the story, of course. So, the boys and I ran to Walmart to grab some candy canes before youth group. In pajamas.
Christmas shopping for candy canes at Walmart. In pajamas. Hahaha 😉 #firsttimeforeverything
“The Legend of the Candy Cane” is the book we read to the kids at the birthday pajama party. I found it at Family Christian bookstore and it’s a GREAT read!
A great story to read tying the candy cane into Jesus and His life.

And that is just a glimpse of what we’ve been up to lately! Busy, but loving it!
I’d go into the details of our Elf on the Shelf (Elfie has arrived) (and Peppermint Patty, our OTHER Elf on the Shelf), but I’ll save that for my next blog post. Yes. Two elves. 🙂 #doubletrouble
In the meantime, I’ll be nursing our two sweet boys and Hubby back to good health (all three are home today…sick). #boo
So, while you are so kindly praying for my book proposal, can you pray for us to get this flu bug out of our house and feel healthy and well? Thank you!!
Glad to be back on the blog! I’ve missed you all!!
