Weekend Recap: Our Father’s Day weekend…trophies, trucks, and tractors.

We had a nice weekend, but I have to be honest.  I need to apologize now because this post is not very entertaining, so you may want to stop reading right now.  Ok.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Friday, I met some former co-workers out for chips and salsa to celebrate their last day of school.  Because nothing screams party on like chips and salsa.  I can’t believe that it’s been a whole year since I’ve taught.  That’s the beauty of God and His plans…had I not taken a year off from teaching (and now, I’ll be taking next year off, as well), I would never have started writing and blogging.  Love how God works.  When we step out of what we know and trust God, He shows us a plan that we could never have dreamed of.

Saturday morning the sun was shining and we had some excited people in the house.  See, this has been a day that one person in our family has been anticipating since the beginning of the week.  That would be our five year old.  Maxim could not wait for Saturday morning because this was his last t-ball game AND…this was the day they’d receive their trophy for all of the blood, sweat, and tears that were shed during t-ball season.  Well, at least some sweat was shed.  (One can get very hot and sweaty when diving for every ball hit.  As in, diving in the dirt and wrestling your teammates to see who got the ball first.)

After the tball festivities, the boys and I stopped by our town’s gas station because people…BOUNCY HOUSE and FACE PAINTING!  Yes.  I had no idea that we could spend about an hour in our local gas station.  But with door prizes to be given away (which for the record, we did not win anything), a bouncy house, and face painting…well, time just flew!

Nate was thrilled to have the skeleton. Mom…not so much.

And we had a vicious tiger…

Sunday we celebrated Father’s Day with Daddy.  Eating Jimmy John’s, then going for a drive was how we partied with Daddy.  Patrick wanted to go to Iowa City to take a peek at some cars.  How ironic…we went to the dealership and they had the EXACT truck we wanted to get him for Father’s Day that I posted about in my Friday post.  So, I got a picture of Nate by it and we told Hubby, “Happy Father’s Day!  Wish we could get this for you!”  It was almost like actually getting it, except the truck is still at the dealership and not in our driveway.

We did other “Dad” things, like stop by and look at John Deere tractors and go to Menard’s to get grass seed and soil.

We love green

And that was our weekend.  Hope you had a great weekend, as well!
