Fun Friday Favorites: Fall Fashion “must haves”, taco pizza, and time

This week I have been busy with starting up some Bible studies, running kids here and there, and we ate walking taco leftovers so much that I don’t think I’ll be able to make them for about a month or two.

And now, time for my Fun Friday Favorites.  I might add that next week is my birthday week, so I hope to celebrate all. week. long.  Which explains number 6 in my line-up of my favorites for this week.

Also, please read the very bottom…I have a request for you, my dear reader.  Thank you so much and enjoy today’s favorites!

1.  Gap Buffalo plaid shirt –

Oh, how I love plaid!

Oh, how I love plaid!

I am a sucker for plaid.  I’ve had my eye on this Gap shirt and I may need to order it…I think you can throw some big earrings on and a necklace or two and still look girly in this shirt.  No lumberjack look here, friends (when you add accessories).

2.  Gap denim shirt –

Everyone needs a classic denim shirt.

Super cute!

My theory on this (and I’m about 50% correct on this one):  everyone needs a classic denim shirt.  At our family reunion last week, I had on a white tank underneath a denim shirt w/ a lightweight gray cardigan over it (think layers…that’s the rave).  I wore my black leggings and boots and of course…a few necklaces.  You see, a denim shirt can be just a nice classic look to throw on and perhaps, even add a scarf.  This Gap shirt is similar to the one I own…I’m diggin it.

3.  Jolt leggings –

The best leggings ever.

The best leggings ever.  Period.

These leggings are my favorite (the same ones that I wore last Sunday, remember?).  My friend and a former parent of a child I taught, Crystal, works at Von Maur.  Well, she showed these to me last year and I love them.  They have two pockets in the back (think jean pockets) and two in the front, so I feel that they offer a little more detail than your basic legging.  A “must have” for fall and winter.  And as always, you can shop at Von Maur online and have them sent directly to you (no need to leave that office chair your sitting in right now.  Or the couch where you are in the midst of half-folded laundry piled up all around you.).

4.  The North Face Nuptse 2 Down Vest –

Another staple for fall and winter...

Another staple for fall and winter…

Dicks Sporting Goods or Scheels has these vests.  I got a black North Face vest last year and it is one of my favorite things to wear in the fall and winter.  I went a little larger so I could wear it with my leggings.  Wow.  So many Fun Friday Favorites can be all wrapped up into a few outfits today!  Please.  Hold the applause.  I’m just doing my job.  Bringing fashion to you.  It’s a sacrifice, but I’m honored to do it.  Anyway.  This hot pink vest is very cute, but if you are going for just one vest…buy the black.  A staple, for sure.

5.  Lucky Brand Emmie Leopard Print flat –

Lucky Brand

Lucky Brand flat…very stylish

The leopard print is such a pop in an outfit.  And leopard print has been in for a year or so and continues to be ‘hot’.  I got these shoes a year or two ago (I like to think I’m pioneering the way in the fashion industry.  Except not.) and I wear them with my skinny jeans or leggings.  Comfy and cute.  Especially when you don’t feel like it’s cool enough (as in the weather) for boots.  Von Maur still has these and I say be brave.  Wear them with a plaid shirt or stripes.  Mixing patterns is hot (according to Pinterest).

6.  Happy Joe’s Taco Supreme Pizza (minus the onions) –

One of my all time favorites.

One of my all time favorites.

Well, I may have mentioned that next week is my “Birthday Week”…right?  I plan to have this be one of our meals sometime next week, in honor of the special week.  (Remember, around our household, we celebrate one’s birthday ALL WEEK LONG.  Even if it isn’t until next Friday.)  I grew up celebrating birthdays with my family at Happy Joe’s in Oskaloosa.  Great memories.  And I loved the loud birthday horn they honked before giving you that yummy birthday sundae.  So, by all means, we will have Happy Joe’s Taco Supreme pizza next week.  Just talking about it makes me want to go and get it right now.  And.  In typical Angela behavior, I will ask for approximately 18 packets of taco sauce.  Because that would be a disaster to run out of taco sauce when eating the best taco pizza ever.

7.  Time –

Okay, I realize this is a strange favorite.  Time.  But let me explain.  I’ve been putting a lot on my plate.  And sometimes, I don’t prioritize my time very well because I do too many things.  Am I making any sense here?

So, I’m going to give myself more time next week to do some of the following:

BE with family.  That means, have some fun times with Hubby and our boys DURING the week.  Not just go, go, go.

Bake.  I didn’t bake this week because I was running, running, running (yes, running to work out, but in this case, I mean running as in “on the go”).  So, I hope to bake some yummy birthday pumpkin bars.

Write.  You all.  I haven’t been giving myself time to sit and work on writing for my book.  I’m going to take a few long days to do this.  (This may include about four Pumpkin Pie skinny lattes at each sitting.  Oh, I kid.  Kind of.)  But I love writing and I need to carve out time for it.

Study.  Being in a couple of Bible studies is exciting, but that means I need to sit down.  And DO the study.  Read God’s Word.  Listen to Him.  And I’m super excited about the book we are studying…Discerning the Voice of God by Priscilla Shirer.  I read devotions and the Bible each day, but to actually STUDY.  And listen.  And learn.  I want this.

Time.  When I’m organized, purposeful with my time, and structured, I can do so many of my favorite things.  🙂

Have a wonderful weekend!!

(On a side note:  If you would be so kind, dear friends…I’m looking for feedback on my Fun Friday Favorites that I post each Friday.  What are your thoughts on me doing these posts?  Do you like them?  Would you like to see anything different?  More fashion?  More recipes?  Keep it how it is?  All feedback (positive and constructive) is appreciated!  Thank you so much! ~ Angela)
