Fun Friday Favorites: State Track and patriotic fashion

It’s that time again friends! Fun Friday Favorites!! Let’s get to it!

  1. State Track –

Last weekend, we were in Ames for the USA Track & Field State Track meet. It was hot, sunny, hot, and did I mention HOT?

Just trying to stay cool in the sweltering heat!

This was Maxim’s first year competing in track. He had a great season and Maxim qualified for regionals in the 400 m dash. We couldn’t be more proud of this little guy!

Nate has been fighting an injury all season…it’s his growth plate in his heel. At times, we had the pain under control. Then, once school was out, he was in basketball camps for the past three weeks. Between the running at camps and at track practice, it was too much. Last Thursday (two days before he was to run at State), I watched his basketball team compete for the championship and I saw he was limping. LIMPING on the court. After the game, I immediately pulled him aside and asked him why he was running if his heel hurt that bad. We’ve all been there. Push through the pain because we love to compete. We iced it the next two days, he took his share of ibuprofen, and still hobbling on it Saturday morning, Hubby and I told Nate he wouldn’t be running the 800 m run that day. He fought back tears because this kid LOVES track.

While little brother ran on Saturday, Nate sat around and iced his heel, in hopes of being able to run the 400 m dash on Sunday. We said a lot of prayers and Sunday, he felt better, believing he could run. Of course, hindsight is always better…we should not have let Nate run Sunday. But we did. He started out strong for the first 100 meters and then. It was so obvious that Nate was injured. He finished the rest of the 400 and I wanted to cry. I was so sad to see him in so much pain and yet, so proud of how he wouldn’t give up. With all of that being said, we now know that next year, he just can’t do it all. Especially if he’s trying to ward off pain. Rest and ice. That’s what he’s been doing this past week.

But this boy. We couldn’t be more proud of him. #heisafighter  #nevergiveup

So proud of Nate!

Our cute little baseball player :)

Our cute little baseball player 🙂

This is one of my favorites this week. Maxim FINISHED the baseball season. If you recall, we’ve been struggling with him. He wanted to “retire” two weeks ago. He was done. Over it. Wanted to hang up his baseball jersey shirt. But we told him that he needed to finish the season. AND HE DID. He even loved his last game! He went 3 for 3 and made some great plays! He is really good at baseball, it’s just not his favorite. So happy he stuck it out. (He might not of had a choice 😉 Hahaha)

There you have it friends. A little bit of this and that on the blog. We aren’t quitters. We try our best. And We love the US of A! 🙂 Have a great weekend and enjoy time with your loved ones! xo ~ Angela Banae
